Slang term for the prescribed medication Ortho Evra: a thin, beige patch that transmits progesterone and estrogen directly through the skin to prevent pregnancy. The woman places the patch on her upper shoulder, buttocks, abdomen or upper arm and leaves it there for one week, replacing the patch each week for the next two weeks, and not wearing a patch for the fouth week while she has her period. For some people, it is easier to remember to replace a patch once a week than it is to take a pill every day. With perfect use, the Patch is 99.7% effective in preventing pregnancy but provides NO protection against STIs.
