A specific type of fluid that is used during vaginal sex, anal sex, or masturbation to help reduce friction and to increase comfort and sensation from the repetitive rubbing or movement of any two surfaces of the body. Lubricant is available over the counter at most drugs stores and comes in several varieties: water-based, oil-based, silicone-based, and specialty (warming lubricants, flavored lubricants, etc.). Water-based and some silicone-based lubricants are the only types that can be used safely with latex condoms. Examples include K-Y® Jelly, Astroglide®, and Slippery Stuff®.
