cervical capsearch for term

A thimble-shaped cup of rubber, plastic, or silicone that fits snugly over the cervix and is used with spermicide to prevent the passage of semen into the uterus. It is 80%-90% effective against pregnancy if used correctly, but does not protect against STIs. The cervical cap must be fitted and prescribed by a doctor. The cervical cap is no longer available in the U.S. because there is no manufacturer.
