Short for "bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism." A catch-all term for relationships or activities that usually involve some kind of power exchange or role-playing. Although many BDSM activites may appear violent, these activites are always consensual and go by the "SSC" guideline: "safe, sane, and consensual".
